STATE OF THE ART AND TENDENCIES IN THE TRANSPORT BY LAND OF PERISHABLE FOODSTUFFS.

Author(s) : METZ S.

Summary

RAILWAYS PLAY A MAJOR ROLE IN LONG DISTANCE TRANSPORT. REQUIRE MENTS FOR THE DESIGN OF INSULATED VEHICLES HAVE BEEN STUDIED. SOME FUTURE TRENDS ARE REPORTED: USE OF SOLAR ENERGY, HEAT RECOVERY, USE OF A HEAT PUMP IN WINTER, ETC. EVEN NEW TECHNIQUES USING VEHICLES SUCH AS MECHANICALLY REFRIGERATED CONTAINERS, MOBILE BODIES, PIGGYBACK SYSTEMS, ETC, CANNOT SUBSTITUTE, OVER A LONG TERM, CONVENTIONAL VEHICLES. IT IS THE SAME FOR REFRIGERATION. THE DESIGN OF MECHANICALLY REFRIGERATED TRAINS SHOULD TAKE INTO ACCOUNT CERTAIN SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS. MODERN RAILWAY TRUCKS BUILT OF SANDWICH PANELS AND PROVIDING SATISFACTORY CONDITIONS FOR THE CA STORAGE OF TRANSPORTED GOODS ARE PRESENTED.
