Summary

TONNAGE OF FROZEN FOOD DECLINED IN 1981. THERE WAS INCREASED TONNAGE IN ETHNIC FOODS, FROZEN APPLE JUICE AND VEGETABLES, ESPECIALLY POTATOES. TWO LARGE COMPANIES HAVE ACQUIRED INTEREST IN FROZEN SEAFOOD. MANUFACTURERS ARE OPTIMISTIC FOR THE FUTURE. SUPERMARKETS ARE NOT SO SURE. THEIR PROBLEMS ARISE FROM NEW PRODUCTS, AND COSTS OF ENERGY AND DISTRIBUTION. C.R.F.
