STIRLING CYCLE: AN ALTERNATIVE FOR COOLING MACHINES.

Author(s) : KUSHNIR M., MANOR E.

Summary

THE STIRLING CYCLE, OPERATING WITH HELIUM, COULD SOLVE IN A PRACTICAL WAY, THE ECOLOGICAL PROBLEM OF HALOGENS. FURTHERMORE, IT SEEMS POSSIBLE TO INCREASE SIGNIFICANTLY THE COOLING COP. A SIMULATION MODEL BASED ON EXPERIMENTATION AND ON THERMAL AND THERMODYNAMIC EQUATIONS WAS USED IN ORDER TO EVALUATE THE PERFORMANCE OF A REAL CYCLE OF STIRLING MACHINES. THE RESULTS OF THIS SIMULATION WERE DISCUSSED AND COMPARED WITH THOSE OF THE RANKINE CYCLE OBTAINED WITH LITERATURE DATA.
