Summary

IT WAS ESTABLISHED EXPERIMENTALLY THAT CONTROLLED ATMOSPHERE DECREASES LOSSES DURING THE STORAGE OF FOODSTUFFS, INCREASES THE FLAVOUR OF CARROTS AND THE YIELD OF CARROT SEEDS. THE INSTALLATION COSTS OF CONTROLLED ATMOSPHERE COLD STORES ARE 1.1 TIMES HIGHER THAN THOSE OF NORMAL COLD STORES, HOWEVER THE OPERATING COSTS OF THE FORMER ARE LOWER. THE ANNUAL SAVINGS WITH THE STORAGE OF CONSUMPTION CARROTS IN CONTROLLED ATMOSPHERE STORAGE REACH ROUBLES 40.81 PER 1 TON.
