Type of article: Article

Summary

The Ctifl research station at Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (France) has been studying controlled atmosphere storage as a possible alternative to sulphur dioxide treatment of table grapes. The effects of high carbon dioxide concentrations (10 to 20%) have been compared to those of low concentrations of oxygen (1%). Botrytis fungal disease can develop quickly upon the end of treatment and the return to ambient temperatures.
