Storage under controlled atmosphere of early figs (Ficus carica L.) of the "Mission" and "Brown" varieties.
Author(s) : GALLETT L., BERGER H., OYARZÚN J., et al.
Summary
The effect of controlled atmosphere was studied in early figs at 0 °C for two harvest dates. The first one corresponded to fruit of the variety Mission stored at 5/5 and 15/5 of CO2 and O2 respectively. These fruits were evaluated 14 and 21 days for soluble solids and quality parameters. For the second harvest date, two varieties were picked: Mission with 18.4 °B and 100% cover colour and the variety Brown with 17.3 °B and 80% colour. The fruits were evaluated after 16 days of storage. The fruit of the Mission variety, harvested when less ripe, was evaluated as being of a better quality.
