Studies on bubble pump operated two-fluid vapour absorption refrigerator.

Author(s) : SARAVANAN R., MAIYA M. P.

Summary

Air cooled absorber and condenser, and replacement of the solution pump by a heat operated bubble pump are necessary for miniaturisation of the vapour absorption water/lithium bromide refrigeration system, which is also capable of running exclusively on heat energy. Such a bubble pump is designed for a 50-watt cooling capacity using hydrostatic principle to maintain the required pressure drop between the system components. An evaporator temperature of 7.5 °C is obtained at no load condition and a refrigerating capacity of 30 watts is realized at 19 °C achieving an actual COP of 0.38 with source and sink temperatures of 85 and 40 °C respectively.
