Study of liquid helium cavitation flow through a Venturi channel.
Author(s) : ISHII T., MURAKAMI M.
Summary
Experimental study was carried out on a cavitation flow of liquid helium through a semi-Venturi channel that has a converging and diverging boundary on one side while the other boundary is flat. In the experiment, the flow is usually accompanied with flow separation, and thus the downstream flow field consists of three regions, the potential core region, the separation one and the shear layer between the two regions. The authors measured the temperature drop caused by cavitation by using a thin film resistance temperature sensor. The pressure variation and visualization pictures were also registered to investigate the detail of the development of cavitation.
