Type of monograph: Report

Summary

The report introduces, describes the test facility, summarizes results and recommends further research for an experimental and analytical study to determine lubricant circulation characteristics. R407C was tested as a representative hydrofluorocarbon refrigerant with two mineral oil and two branched acids polyolester lubricants. R22 was also tested for comparison. Available data on the miscibility of refrigerants and lubricants and on oil return practices are reviewed. The report is presented in two volumes. Volume I contains a complete description of the program scope, objective, test results summary, conclusions description of test facility and recommendations for future effort. Volume II contains all of the program test data essentially as taken from the laboratory dynamic test facility during the sequence of runs.
