Summary

The subject of this study is the evaluation of the air quality in an above-ground car park located in Poitiers, France. The first part of this work performed using measurements made by diffusive samplers and air quality monitoring units, shows the effectiveness of the ventilation system which induces a decrease in nitrogen dioxide concentrations of about 20%. The second part gives an assessment of the concentrations of nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter measured by an air-quality monitoring unit. The concentrations found in the car park are near the values recommended by health organizations. However, for regular users, presence at peak hours may significantly increase their average exposure to nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter.
