Study on pulse tube refrigeration performance with a two-component gas mixture.

Summary

In order to increase the cooling capacity of pulse tube refrigerators in the 80 K temperature region, the possibility of using a two-component gas mixture instead of pure helium is theoretically analyzed. Two groups of gas mixtures are recommended. One is helium-neon, helium-hydrogen or neon-hydrogen, which still remains gas state in the 80 K temperature region. The other is helium-nitrogen, neon-nitrogen, or hydrogen-nitrogen, which is in a two-phase state at 80 K when the molecular fraction of the nitrogen component is less than 10%. The performance of pulse tube refrigerators may be improved in terms of enthalpy difference.
