Summary

The absorber is one of the important components in a lithium-bromide/water absorption chiller. During refrigeration, the refrigerant vapour (water vapour) is absorbed by LiBr-H2O concentrated solution inner at regulated working conditions. Improving the absorbing efficiency of the absorber is the crucial factor to increase the COP of the double-effect LiBr-H2O absorption refrigerating machine. In the paper, the mathematical model of falling-film absorber was established based on the double-effect LiBr-H2O absorption refrigerating cycle, and install stainless steel screen on the surface of pipe of shell-pipe absorber. With the aid of wicking action of reticulation material, it can make the LiBr aqueous solution stay on the pipe surface longer advisably, i.e. increasing the liquid adhesive ability of the pipe appearance, this can ensure the liquid film clinging to the wall surface to strengthen falling film ability, and then strengthen heat and mass transfer efficiency. However, the time of liquid attachment cannot last too long, otherwise the solution circulating efficiency would bring down and decline the heat and mass transfer effect.
