Summary

Evidence is increasing to suggest that a wide range of environmentally induced plant disorders, including chilling injury, are mediated by reactive oxygen species produced during stress or upon relief from stress. Results provide evidence that mitochondria may be a major source of superoxide in chilling-sensitive plant tissues exposed to low temperatures.
