Survival curves for microbial species stored by freeze-drying.
Author(s) : MIYAMOTO-SHINOHARA Y., SUKENOBE J., IMAIZUMI T., et al.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The authors investigated the survival of microbial species stored at 5°C for up to 20 years following freeze-drying. Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas putida, Enterobacter cloacae, S. cerevisiae, Lactobacillus acidophus and Enteroccoccus faecium were studied. Excellent survival was attributed to a high level of desiccation along with sealing under vacuum.
