Summary

The beneficial effects were assessed on suspension cultured cells of the Japonica rice, Oryza sativa. The results demonstrate the marked cryoprotectant effects of oxygenated perfluorodecalin and Pluronic F-68, both alone and/or in combination, for plant cells recovered from cryostorage. Such options offer alternative postthaw handling strategies to cells of those plant species which, normally, respond poorly to conventional recovery procedures.
