Taking advantage of off-peak electricity rates for air-conditioning.
L'optimisation tarifaire en climatisation.
Author(s) : BIENFAIT D.
Type of article: Article
Summary
In France, where the peaks of electricity consumption occur in winter, it is obviously less worthwhile than in other countries to seek out lower rates for air-conditioning. Nevertheless, varying rates can be used for substantial savings. The first part of the article deals with ice storage, while the second part presents devices for taking advantage of off-peak hours, such as an exterior thermosiphon, storage within the building's structure and flow variation or dual energy sources.
