Summary

Under the present subsidy scheme "BSET" operated by Senter, a Dutch government agency, a start was made in the period 1991-1996 on the market introduction of heat-pump boilers. Most of these are made abroad and are not geared to the requirements of the Dutch market. In 1997 Inventum began producing these boilers for Dutch consumers. The performance in practice of the first twenty prototypes has been determined using a special measurement programme, and conclusions have been drawn from the results. The importance of proper advice when choosing a heat-pump boiler and of correct installation are discussed in the article.
