Technical-grade paraffin waxes as phase change material for cool thermal storage.

Summary
The paper describes technical-grade paraffin wax, Rubitherm RT5. Thermal properties of the material are reported and its potential for use as a phase-change material for cool storage is demonstrated. The thermal properties investigated include melting point, freezing point, the heat of fusion, thermal stability and, volume expansion of phase change process. A differential scanning calorimeter was used to measure the heat of fusion. Results have shown that the material has a good potential phase-change material for cool storage. The static and dynamic cool storage processes are discussed.
