Test rig for CO2 automotive air conditioning compressor.

Author(s) : HOLST J.

Summary

In the course of developing a compressor for auto air conditioning (A/C) it became necessary to also develop and build up a test rig which permits pressures significantly higher than those occuring in A/C systems using traditional refrigerants. This test rig is described. Since the compressor operates at higher pressures than traditional A/C systems, standard A/C components could not be used. It has therefore been necessary to manufacture suitable components and to use components from other branches of industry. PC-based data acquisition is used and the main part of data processing is performed at the same time as measurements are being taken.
