THE ARTICLE GIVES RESULTS OF TESTS CARRIED OUT ON HOUSEHOLD REFRIGERATORS IN THE SHANGHAI AREA. THESE TESTS WERE MADE UNDER CONDITIONS OF CONTROLLED TEMPERATURE AND RELATIVE HUMIDITY, WITH A STABILIZED ELECTRICITY SUPPLY. DATA ARE RECORDED ON A COMPUTERIZED SYSTEM. THE ANALYSIS OF THE RESULTS MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO PROPOSE MEASURES FOR IMPROVING THE REFRIGERATOR PERFORMANCES, PARTICULARLY BY IMPROVING CONSTRUCTION, DOORS AND JOINTS, THE REFRIGERATING EQUIPMENT, THE REFRIGERANT CHARGE AND CONTROL DEVICES.
