Testing of reaction of material to low temperatures and to liquid hydrogen.
Materialprüfung bei tiefen temperaturen und im Flüssigwasserstoff.
Author(s) : DEIMEL P., FISCHER H., HOFFMAN M.
Summary
A testing system was brought on line to test materials for tensile strength, mechanical resistance, fatigue and cracks when exposed to liquid helium (4 K) and liquid hydrogen (20 K). The system also uses a gas cryostat to test temperatures from 20 K to room temperature in an inert medium. Results are presented on an austenitic weld.
