Type of monograph: Doctoral thesis

Summary

The aim of this thesis on sustainable energy engineering was to design and analyse sustainable HVAC systems for the tourist apartment complex (named Eco Complex) which will have sustainable energy supply and utilization. Three centralized systems for both cooling and heating seasons were designed taking advantage of climate factors and geographical position. A high-temperature cooling system uses sea water at 15 °C with radiant heat transfer for building cooling. This system and the solar-cooling absorption system are compared with the conventional vapour compression system. Energy and environmental analyses showed that possible savings in electricity consumption and CO2 emissions can reach 83% for the seawater-cooling system during the cooling season, while the solar-heating system with a back-up heat pump can save up to 57% during the heating season.
