THE APPLICATION OF MICRO-ELECTRONICS IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES.

Summary

THE AUTHORS STRESS THE PRESENT DIFFICULTIES OF ADOPTING DATA PROCESSING SYSTEMS IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES: DESIGNERS ARE NOT SUFFICIENTLY TRAINED IN THIS TECHNIQUE. THE COST OF MICROPROCESSOR AUTOMATION IS HIGHER THAN THAT OF CONVENTIONAL AUTOMATION, BUT THE EXTRA COST SHOULD BE COMPARED TO THE POSSIBLE ENERGY SAVINGS. THE BRAKE TO THE ADOPTION OF MICRO-COMPUTERS IS THE LACK OF EXPERTS, DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT AND THE COST OF EQUIPMENT. THE AUTHORS SHOW THE EFFORTS MADE IN CUBA FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF DATA PROCESSING.
