Author(s) : AKOPJAN V. B.

Summary

THE APPLICATION OFULTRASOUND IN CRYOBIOLOGY MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO SPEED UP THE SATURATION OF CELLS AND TISSUES WITH CRYOPROTECTORS, TO LOWER CRYORESISTIVITY OF SWELLING TISSUES, TO HASTEN THE HEELING OF WOUNDS AFTER CRYOSURGICAL TREATMENT, TO PREVENT OVERCOOLING OF LIQUIDS AND THE FORMATION OF COARSE CRYSTALS, ETC. A SOUND BEAM IS SIMILAR TO THE BEAM OF A FLASHLIGHT WHICH CAN BE REFLECTED AND FOCUSSED SO IT IS POSSIBLE TO OBTAIN ACOUSTIC IMAGES OF THE INTERNAL STRUCTURES IN AN OPAQUE MEDIUM. INTENSIVE ULTRASOUND CAUSES HEATING OF A SUBSTANCE, CAVITATION AND INTENSIFICATION OF HEAT-MASS EXCHANGE IN LIQUIDS, ETC.
