The choice of a thermostatic expansion valve for a CFC-12 refrigeration system retrofitted with HFC-134a.

Type of article: Article
Summary
The conventional R12 cross-charged valve does work, but with a slight loss of superheat sensitivity. A pure R134a charged valve lacks a constant superheat over a range of evaporator temperatures, and may require a smaller orifice size than the conventional cross-charged valve.
