Summary

THE DESIGN OF THE REFRIGERATION PLANT TOOK INTO ACCOUNT SAFETY, SIMPLICITY AND ECONOMICAL OPERATION. SCREW COMPRESSORS WERE SELECTED FOR THEIR ADVANTAGES. THE CONDENSERS ARE OF THE EVAPORATIVE TYPE. FOR AIR-COOLERS, ARRANGED ALONG ONE OF THE SMALL SIDES OF THE ROOM, THEIR EXCHANGE SURFACE AREAS WERE CALCULATED WITH A TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE OF 6.5 K BETWEEN AIR SUCKED AT 243 K (-30 DEG C) AND THE EVAPORATING FLUID. < RELAY > FANS WERE INSTALLED IN THE ROOM. THAWING IS PROVIDED BY ELECTRIC RESISTANCES. A STRICT AUTOMATIC CONTROL OF PLANT OPERATION WAS INSTALLED. G.G.
