Summary

Supervision of temperature control inside a high-rise warehouse building with small temperature difference in the chill rooms has been achieved by excellent air distribution and the application of electronic expansion valves with area-control. The air distribution was investigated by computational fluid dynamics. The results of these and the experience of the supplier GTI Koudetechniek b.v. lead to the final choice of the installed air distribution system. A central ammonia/CO2 cascade refrigeration plant with low energy consumption and environmental advantages generates the required refrigeration. Application of evaporative condensers in combination with air-cooled condensers and also the accurate capacity control of screw compressors with their efficiency improvements increased the efficiency of this plant even more.
