Author(s) : FÖRG W.

Summary

About one fourth of natural gas exports are in the form of LNG. In 1997, 81.8 million tonnes were transported in 103 specially constructed ships. The article presents the relevant equipment, including liquefaction features, LNG tankers and regasification plants. In 1996, the Norwegian company Staoil and Linda AG set up the LNG Technology Alliance to lower the cost and shorten the construction time of natural gas liquefaction facilities. The article reports on the results of the studies.
