Summary

A study has been made of the use of an absorption heat pump for the heating of buildings. With the aid of a computerized parameter study, one can evaluate the COP that can be achieved with single-stage absorption heat pumps as a function of external parameters and the irreversibilities in the components of the heat pump. An NH3-H2O mixture was used. The condenser was replaced by a resorber in order to avoid the excessive pressure in the former. The COP is thus evaluated for this resorption cycle as a function of the resorption pressure. The absorber pressure and the temperature of the weak solution leaving the generator were optimized in order to achieve a better COP.
