IIR document

The design of refrigeration plant for energy efficient operation.

Author(s) : STRONG D. T. G.

Summary

The possibilities of improving the design of commercial and industrial refrigerating plants are numerous; more than 20% energy savings can be achieved, often at low or even zero additional cost. The design of energy saving refrigerating plants implies a correct knowledge of the refrigeration load. After analysing and understanding the refrigeration load, it is necessary to optimize the refrigeration system and its components, and to specify the operating and maintenance requirements. The designer may have to repeat this approach several times before the design is fully optimized.
