Summary

The field of Commission B1 is very wide. It embraces thermodynamic fundamentals, refrigerating cycles, thermophysical properties of pure substances and mixtures, use of exergy in refrigerating engineering, heat and mass transfer in boiling, condensation, cooling towers and in insulation. A short report on a few of the numerous interesting papers presented during the XV International Congress of Refrigeration shows that Commission B1 successfully advanced our knowledge of fundamentals of refrigeration engineering.
