THE EFFECT OF BUBBLE DIAMETER AND TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE ON R114 EVAPORATION.

Author(s) : HELMER W. A., RANE M. V.

Summary

SINGLE-DROPLET EVAPORATION DATA WERE TAKEN ON R114 IN WATER FOR INITIAL DIAMETERS BETWEEN 1 AND 2 MM AND TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN 1 AND 8 K USING A DILATOMETER TO MEASURE THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE NUSSELT NUMBER DATA AGREED, IN GENERAL, WITH THE EXISTING TREND IN DILATOMETRIC HEAT TRANSFER DATA FOR ISOPENTANE BUT AT A LOWER LEVEL. A GENERAL CORRELATION FOR THE INSTANTANEOUS NUSSELT NUMBER WAS OBTAINED AS A FUNCTION ONLY OF VAPORIZATION RATIO FOR TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCES BEYOND ABOUT 1 K.
