Summary

RESULTS OF THE INVESTIGATION OF LIPID COMPOSITION OF CONTROL AND TREATED WITH PERMEABLE CRYOPROTECTANTS, NAMELY GLYCEROL, DMSO OR ETHYLENE GLYCOL, SPERMATOZOA WERE CONSIDERED. THE DATA OBTAINED INDICATED THAT 9 AND 20% CRYOPROTECTANT CONCENTRATIONS INDUCED A MARKED DEGRADATION OF PHOSPHOLIPIDS. APPEARANCE OF MONOGLYCERIDES AND DIGLYCERIDES AFTER EQUILIBRATION SUGGESTED PHOSPHOLIPASE ACTIVATION. MONOGLYCERIDES AND DIGLYCERIDES WERE CAPABLE OF INCORPORATION INTO THE HYDROPHOBIC PHASE OF THE MEMBRANE AND IT POSSIBLY CHANGES ITS PROPERTIES.
