Summary

REGARDLESS OF THE METHOD OF FREEZING, THE FREEZE-THAWING OF SPERMATOZOA WITHOUT A CRYOPROTECTOR RESULTS IN THE COMPLETE IMMOBILITY OF THE SPERM, BUT THE ADDITION OF GLYCEROL TO THE EJACULATE AVOIDS THIS DRAWBACK. HOWEVER, PART OF THE SPERM IS DAMAGED BY THERMAL SHOCK AND RECRYSTALLIZATION DURING PHASE TRANSITION. A METHOD IS PROPOSED FOR < THERMAL ADAPTATION > AND RAPID FREEZING AT THE PHASE TRANSITION TEMPERATURE.
