Summary

IN THE PAPER, A METHOD IS DEVELOPED OF GENERAL APPLICABILITY FOR THE PREDICTION OF THE LOCAL AND THE PERIMETER-AVERAGE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS IN TWO-PHASE FLOW IN HORIZONTAL TU THIS METHOD, WHICH IS BASED ON EXPERIMENTAL MEASUREMENTS OF LOCAL HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS AND THE FRACTION OF THE TUBE WALL WETTED BY THE LIQUID, ALSO ALLOWS FOR THERMAL CONDUCTION IN THE TUBE WALL. THE PREDICTED PERIMETER-AVERAGE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS AGREE WELL WITH MEASURED DATA. THE EFFECT OF THERMAL CONDUCTION IN THE TUBE WALL ON THE PERIMETER-AVERAGE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT WAS FOUND TO BE VERY SIGNIFICANT IN THE RANGE OF CONDUCTANCES OF COMMERCIAL IMPORTANCE.
