Numerical simulation of refrigerated air curtain for thermal insulation.

Summary

The thermodynamic behavior of air curtain is studied in this present paper using a specific code based on the finite volume method and developed under FORTRAN language. Aerodynamic barriers, commonly known as air curtains, formed by one or more jets are used for the insulation of different places, like open refrigerated display cabinet, from outside environment. In this present work, a 2-D numerical model was used to investigate the effect of jet velocity, temperature and shelves on the behavior of air curtain.
