Analysis and digitalization of flow images for studying refrigerated display cases.

Analyse et numérisation d'images d'écoulements pour l'étude des meubles frigorifiques de vente.

Summary

A image-processing method is presented that can be used for an overall analysis of the dynamic behaviour of air jets, as part of a study of air curtains at the openings of refrigerated display cases. The method is based on laser-tomography visualization. The movements of air in the curtains are manifest in white smoke that is spread about in the flow and lighted with a laser screen. Processable video images are obtained for different illumination perspectives. The processing of the images results in quantifiable information that can be used to characterize the dynamic behaviour of flows and to study the influence of different parameters, with a goal of optimizing air curtains.
