Summary
The global ice cream market is headed by Western Europe, which accounted for nearly 32% of sales in 1998. Second are Asia-Pacific and North America, each with approximately 25%, followed by Latin America and Eastern Europe (5 to 7%), and Australasia, Africa and the Middle East (less than 5%). Since 1994 Latin America has posted the highest growth among all regional markets in the ice cream sector (up to 30%) while its growth in the yoghurts and chilled desserts sector was even more exceptional at 50%.
