Summary

LOSSES FROM POTATOES, CARROTS AND ONIONS OCCURRING IN CONTAINER STORAGE ARE ASSOCIATED WITH UNFAVOURABLE TEMPERATURE-HUMIDITY CONDITIONS ARISING IN THE PRODUCT BULK. LOSSES FROM POTATOES DUE TO DETERIORATION CORRELATE WITH AN EXCESSIVE TEMPERATURE IN THE TUBER. CARROT LOSSES ARECONNECTED WITH MOISTURE PRECIPITATION ON ROOT-CROPS IN THE UPPER LAYERS OF THE BULK. GROWTH AND DETERIORATION OF ONIONS ARE CAUSED BY HIGH AIR HUMIDITY. TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE PROPERTIES AND CHARACTERISTICS OF TUBERS, ROOT-CROPS, BULBS AND THEIR BULKED LAYER SOME MEASURES WERE SUGGESTED TO IMPROVE COLD STORAGE IN CONTAINERS.
