The installation of room size ground-source heat pumps in a motel in Northern Ontario.

Summary

The study investigates the operating characteristics of room-size ground-source heat pump equipment installed in a motel. The report describes the equipment and provides an estimate of the energy savings expected over a heating season. Findings indicate that the ground-source heat pumps provide considerable demand and energy savings. Based on the field data and laboratory tests each heat pump system reduced the baseboard heating costs by between 40 and 50%.
