Summary
Worldwide demand for LNG is increasing and can only accelerate as environmental regulations favour it over coal or oil fuels. New production is expected in Alaska, Australia, Yemen, Oman and Qatar. Over 40 new LNG ships may be required, each of about 125,000 m3 capacity within the next few years. These will probably carry liquefied gas at about -162 deg C and slightly above ambient pressure.
