THE AUTHOR DESCRIBES A NEW RANGE OF VERTICAL SHAFT, DOUBLE ROTOR, SCREW COMPRESSORS CAPABLE OF A VERY WIDE RANGE OF CONDITIONS. CAPACITIES OF 125 TO 500 KW AT 263, 298 K (-10, + 25 DEG C), USING R22 ARE COVERED BY ONLY THREE ROTOR SIZES, THE SMALLEST BEING OFFERED WITH FOUR DIFFERENT GEAR RATIOS IN A BUILT-IN DRIVE. THE INCLUSIVE GEAR BOX AND COMPRESSOR ARE DIRECTLY BOLTED TO THE DRIVE MOTOR. THE UNITS WILL OPERATE UP TO A 26 BAR OUTLET PRESSURE ENABLING HEAT PUMP UNITS TO GIVE 358 K (85 DEG C) WITH R12 AND EVEN HIGHER WITH R114. THERE IS A CAPACITY CONTROL BYPASS USING A PISTON VALVE ARRANGEMENT FOR CONTROL DOWN TO 25% OF FULL CAPACITY. ALL UNITS ARE EQUIPPED WITH ELECTRONIC CONTROL SYSTEMS. VARIOUS STANDARD PACKAGES ARE AVAILABLE FOR BRINE AND WATER COOLING. D.W.H.
