Summary

Twelve scientific teams present the results of their latest research on the Iceman and give an insight into his lifestyle and his natural environment. Completely new aspects of this Iceman research are described, including a detailed carbon 14 dating of the Iceman's wooden artefacts, investigations concerning the feasibility of these artefacts and the reconstruction of the vegetation and climate in the Ötztal region during the Neolithic period. Analysis of the food residue from the Iceman's intestine enlightens readers concerning the prehistoric diet and allows reconstruction of the season of his death.
