Summary
When designing and developing new compressor, criteria such as compactness, light weight and high capacity as well as robustness and reliability and also growing requirements regarding sound and vibration levels have to be recognized. With respect to the development of a new 8 cylinder compressor (Bock HG8) some of these requirements are discussed in the article.
