Summary

THE NEW HEATING STATION AT THE FEDERAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY OF LAUSANNE IS EQUIPPED WITH 2 HEAT PUMPS AND GAS TURBINES. THE TOTAL HEATING CAPACITY IS 19 MEGAWATT, WITH A MEDIUM TEMPERATURE 338-318 K (65-45 DEG C) AND A LOW TEMPERATURE 323-308 K (50-35 DEG C) NETWORK. THE TURBINES SUPPLY 7 MEGAWATT. THE SYSTEM USES LESS THAN ONE FIFTH OF THE FUEL THAT WOULD BE NECESSARY WITH BOILERS. FOR A TEMPERATURE OF 278 K (5 DEG C) OF THE LAKE OF GENEVA, A COP LARGER THAN 4 CAN BE OBTAINED WITH HIGH-LEVEL COOLING COMPRESSION AND A MAXIMUM HEAT RECOVERY. ONE OF THE FULLY-INSTRUMENTED HEAT PUMPS WILL BE USED FOR LABORATORY TESTS.
