The optimal operation parameters for "cable in conduit superconductors".

Author(s) : KATHEDER H.

Summary

For the design of a cryogenic refrigeration plant for internally cooled wires the optimal operation parameters must be known - inlet pressure, pressure loss, helium mass flow rate and inlet temperature. These parameters are optimal if the wire is cooled with a minimum of helium mass stream. The paper deals with the thermodynamic behaviour of the helium flow in ducts and the possible thermal load in a wire. A method for determination of the optimal operation parameters is presented and a numerical calculation is carried out with typical data for the wires.
