The postharvest treatment of fruit and vegetables. Determination and prediction of optimum harvest date of apples and pears. Proceedings COST 94.

Date: 1900.01.01

Summary

These proceedings contain the 17 papers presented at a meeting of the Working Group on optimum harvest date, held within the framework of COST Concerted Action 94, held in Lofthus, Norway, June 9-10, 1994. Different fruit characteristics have been considered as indicators of optimum harvest date for long-term storage. Among them, starch degradation (especially apples) and firmness (especially pears) have gained wider application but these methods do not identify optimum harvest date in all years. Some of the papers will be abstracted in the IIR Bulletin.
