THE PREDICTION OF HEAT TRANSFER AND PRESSURE LOSS OF REFRIGERANTS NEAR THE CRITICAL STATE.

Author(s) : BELLINGHAUSEN R., RENZ U.

Summary

A CALCULATION METHOD BASED ON THE TURBULENT CONSERVATION EQUATIONS IS APPLIED TO PIPE FLOWS IN THE NEAR SUPERCRITICAL PRESSURE REGION. A QUALITATIVELY GOOD AGREEMENT BETWEEN PREDICTIONS AND MEASUREMENTS WAS ACHIEVED. THE TURBULENCE PARAMETERS HAVE A MAJOR IMPACT ON HEAT TRANSFER AND FRICTION FACTOR. BOTH DECREASED AND INCREASED HEAT TRANSFER IN THE PSEUDOCRITICAL REGION OF THE PIPE FLOW CAN BE SIMULATED BY NUMERICAL PREDICTIONS. THE REDUCTION OF HEAT TRANSFER IS CAUSED BY LAMINARIZATION IN THE WALL ZONES. AS A CONSEQUENCE THE LAMINAR SUBLAYER AT THE WALL IS INCREASED.
