Summary

THE ABILITY OF KUPFER'S CELLS AND HEPATOCYTES TO SYNTHETISE DNA WAS STUDIED USING HISTOGRAPHY WITH 3 H-T THE MITOTIC INDEX WAS DETERMINED AFTER DIFFERENT CRYOAPPLICATIONS ON NORMAL RAT LIVER. CRYODESTRUCTION OF A PART OF THE ORGAN WAS SHOWN TO RESULT IN INTENSIFICATION OF THE PROLIFERATIVE REACTION OF HEPATOCYTES AT EARLY STAGES OF THE REPARATIVE PROCESS.
