Summary

SURVEY OF LITERATURE ON THE SPREAD AND VAPORISATION OF CRYOLIQUIDS, AND A PROPOSAL FOR A NEW MODEL. THE MODEL INCORPORATES THE PARATEMERS CONCERNING GRAVITY, MASS CONSERVATION, HEAT TRANSFER AND THE EFFECTS OF THE TWO LNG COMPONENTS (METHANE AND ETHANE). THE MODEL TESTED WAS COMPARED WITH EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS AND THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT FOR THE SPREAD OF LNG ON UNCONFINED TURBULENT WATER WAS FOUND TO BE TYPICAL OF THE COEFFICIENT FOR A BOILING FILM.
